How it goes

Walk the home at child height

Each room is checked for tip-over risks, reachable cabinets, cords, sharp corners, and stair access.

Confirm the hardware

Products you've bought are checked for fit; anything missing is listed so you can order it.

Anchor and install

Furniture anchors go into studs, gates are mounted into framing, and locks are set so they actually work for adults.

Test everything

Every latch, gate, and anchor is tested before the visit ends.

Babyproofing in Bay Area homes

Furniture anchoring is the single most requested item across the corridor, and Peninsula walls make it a real job: plaster in San Francisco and Burlingame, thin paneling in Eichler homes in Palo Alto and Sunnyvale, and stucco on some interior walls. Anchors are matched to the wall so the strap holds.

Older San Francisco flats and hillside homes in Daly City and San Bruno have steep interior stairs, so hardware-mounted gates at both ends are a common first call.

Babyproofing: questions people ask

How much does babyproofing installation cost?

Billed by the hour. Most homes take two to three hours for anchoring, gates, locks, and covers, so $150–225 in labor.

Do you supply the babyproofing products?

You buy the products (a list is provided after a quick walkthrough if you want one), and installation is charged hourly.

Can you anchor furniture to plaster walls?

Yes. Plaster and paneled walls get anchors rated for them, or the strap is run into a stud.

Do you install gates on stairs?

Yes, hardware-mounted gates at the top and bottom. Pressure gates aren't used at the top of stairs.

What about cabinets I don't want to drill?

Adhesive and magnetic locks work for most cabinets; drilling is used only where you approve it.
